Men of the Nigerian army successfully averted a bomb attack after three female suicide bombers were killed in an explosion from bomb vests strapped around them in the aftermath of a shooting.
The Borno police spokesman, Victor Isukwu, revealed that the three bombers were approaching Maiduguri when troops of the Nigeria army spotted them around Molai village, and shot them.
Isukwu said a bullet hit one of the bombers detonating the explosive device, and setting off an explosion that consumed the three.
The government insists that Boko Haram has been defeated, but the sect still carries out attacks on soft targets and on soldiers.
