Islamic students, yesterday, protesting the continued detention of Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, the leader of Islamic Movement of Nigeria otherwise known as Shi’ites, were teargassed by Police. The protest was held in front of the National Assembly, Abuja.
The Muslim cleric has been in military detention since December last year after his followers had a clash with the Nigerian Army in Zaria, Kaduna state. Over 100 people reportedly lost their lives.
