A 26-year-old woman, Katie Brannen has appeared before a Newcastle Crown Court on two counts of rape.
She is alleged to have committed a man twice in January this year.
The charges were not put to Brannen during a brief hearing and she spoke only to confirm her name.
Gavin Doig, for Brannen, told the court: “I can indicate a not guilty plea and we will be looking for a trial date.”
Prosecutor Julie Clemitson told the court the trial will last approximately four days.
The trial was listed on December 4 and a there will be a further hearing on September 25, which Brannen must attend.
She was granted conditional bail in the meantime, with conditions including a requirement that she must not try to contact the alleged victim and must live at an address in Green Lane,South Shields.
Brannen was also made subject to an electronic curfew and must not enter licenced premises.
Judge Robert Spragg told her: “If you do not come to your trial on December 4 it could go ahead in your absence.
“On those terms you are free to go and we will see you back here on September 25.”
No details about the alleged attack were given in court.
