Mr Osita Okechukwu, The Director General of Voice of Nigeria (VON) has asked former President Goodluck Jonathan to apologise to Nigerians over the comments he made on how he handled corruption during his time in office.
Jonathan had at the PDP Special Non-Elective Convention, held in Abuja on Saturday said that “Though we didn’t completely plug the loopholes in the fight against corruption, but we did well.”
In a statement yesterday, Okechukwu while reacting to the remarks said rather than plugging loopholes of corruption, Jonathan only succeeded in opening them wider.
“He should apologize to Nigerians whom he betrayed for not being transparent,” he said.
“I was outraged when I heard him proclaim that PDP will return to power in 2019 because of the hunger and poverty ravaging the country,” he added.
The VON DG, who said the economy could have collapsed if President Muhammadu Buhari didn’t come to the rescue, added that Jonathan relied on “voodoo economic records” which rated the Nigerian economy higher than that of industrialised South Africa.
“I regret demonstrating on Abuja streets in 2010 with others as a member of the defunct Save Nigeria Group, for him to be made executive president,” he said.
