[PHOTO] APC LG Chairmanship Candidate Remanded In Prison For Assault, Traffic Offence

A local government chairmanship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State, Abimbola Adeniyi, was on Tuesday, October 10, remanded in prison for alleged traffic offence.

She was also alleged to have assaulted a police officer and a staff of the Ekiti State Traffic Management Agency while performing their lawful duty.

The 39-year-old mother of three, allegedly committed the offence on Friday, October 6. She was arraigned by police prosecutor, Inspector Caleb Leramo, before Chief Magistrate Richard Adegboye alongside a 23-year old mechanic operating in Ado Ekiti, Tope Ogidiolu.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges. However, lawyer to the accused persons, Mrs Taiwo Ajibulu, applied for bail which was objected to by the prosecutor.

Ajibulu said issues of traffic offence was bailable and that it will be a breach of the rights of her clients to be deprived of bail on account of flimsy excuse that she could jump bail. Magistrate Adegboye eventually ordered that the accused persons to be remanded in prison custody till October 13, 2017.
