Former President Goodluck Jonathan has said that he and the Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, have come a long way, averring that there is no way he will break his relationship with the governor.
Jonathan made the revelation on Wednesday evening, November 15, when Dickson paid a condolence visit to him in his Otuoke country home on the passing away of the Paramount Ruler of Otuoke community, King Lot Ogiasa.
The former president’s comment came amid speculations of a political rift between him and the governor.
Jonathan, who thanked Dickson for the visit, also indicated that he was not at war with Dickson, saying it was all a figment of some detractors’ imagination.
He described politics as a useless game, saying some people were using it to create imaginary crisis between them.
Jonathan said, “There is no way I can sit anywhere and plan evil against Bayelsa or the Governor. When I was dreaming of becoming a governor, Dickson was amongst the very few in the meetings we were holding.

”Although he was not in the Peoples Democratic Party, he opted to help. He said he didn’t want to be in the PDP but I virtually forced him to join the PDP.
”When I became Governor , I appointed Dickson Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General and that was how he became a PDP member and later became a member of the House of Representatives and so on…There is no way I will break my relationship with the Governor.”
On his part, Dickson denied the existence of leadership tussle between him and the former President.
Dickson, who led a high-powered state delegation for the condolence, said he was part of the Ogiasa family and by extension, the Otuoke community of Ogbia Local Government.
Dickson said, ”We are here in full force as we have always done to commiserate with you, my elder brother, leader and the Ogiasa family in this hour of bereavement. We pray God to grant the Ogiasa eternal repose.”
