Nigeria joins other nations in the 4th industrial revolution talk

With the growing interest of the world in digital technology and the everyday advancement of its sophistication, Africa most populous nation, Nigeria, has refused to remain a spectator watching the revolution drama as she steps up to signify becoming a key player and curator in matters of the trending 4th Industrial Revolution jamboree.

While Nigeria struggles to remain Africa’s largest economy country as her indigenous political reforms continue to mature and her 19 year old adventure into democracy evolves, tech experts in corroborating these efforts are doing everything possible to build the country into another powerhouse to the admiration of other nations.

Joining advanced countries to discuss the prospect of the 4th industrial revolution and possible ways to domesticate action plans, a league of Nigerian tech professionals under the umbrella of the Institute of Software Practitioners of Nigeria (ISPON) will be meeting next month in Lagos at the year’s edition of the ISPON President’s Dinner to deliberate on how best Nigeria can tap into major opportunities of the forthcoming 4th industrial revolution.

This commendable initiative of the ISPON has been described as an effort to bring captains of the ICT industry together to cross-fertilize ideas on the latest technological trends and developments while placing Nigeria in focus. Following the staging of this meeting, by 6th of April, Nigeria is expected to gravitate towards joining other advanced countries leading the world into the 4th industrial revolution.

Moreover, with the likes of Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, Director-General of National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA, Olorogun James Emadoye, President of ISPON, Dr. DanAzumi Mohammed Ibrahim, Director-General, National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP), Barrister Adebayo Shittu, Minister of Communication and Mr. Olukayode Pitan, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Bank of Industry on the attendant list, so much is expected from the meeting.

Reacting to the development, members of the public have applauded the proposal with more appraisals from tech wigs and major NGO(s) on community development. It is said that the forum with 4th industrial revolution as the theme is quite a shift from the usual wishy-washy forum framed by old players in the country. However, it is hoped that the forum will harness the opportunity to ruminate on the theme as it matter to Nigeria and put up concrete action plans proffering sustainable strategies toward nation building for onward implementation.
