The Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) has started its verification exercise to confirm assets declared by public officers in the country.
This was disclosed by the bureau via a statement signed by its Chairman, Sam Saba on Thursday, September 29.
“All invited public officers are to note that failure to honour the invitation by the CCB in this regard is a breach of the provisions of the constitution and could lead to prosecution at the Code of Conduct Tribunal,” the statement reads.
Officers whose assets are yet to be verified are expected to appear physically before the bureau for the verification exercise.
They will also be required to take CCB officials to the sites of their declared fixed assets.
Ministers who are yet to appear for the verification exercise are Babatunde Fashola (Power, Works and Housing); Rotimi Amaechi (Transportation); Ibe Kachikwu (Petroleum Resources (State); Abubakar Malami (Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice); Adebayo Shittu (Communications); Dr. Kayode Fayemi (Solid Minerals and Steel Development) and Audu Ogbeh (Agriculture and Rural Development) among others.
