A chieftain of the Pan Yoruba socio-political group,Afenifere, Sir Olaniwun Ajayi is dead.
According to his personal secretary, Mr Samson Aremu, he died before 12 midnight at the age of 91 years.
He was reported to have complained of having some pain on Thursday afternoon and was taken to Lagos by his eldest son, Dr Konyin Ajayi, but died some hours later.
The late Afenifere chieftain was born in Isara Remo on April 8, 1925 to Mr. Benjamin Ajayi, a farmer and Mariam Efundolamu, who traded in farm produce.
He had his early education at Islamic Primary School, Epe. After spending only three months there, he later enrolled into a primary school in Ode Remo, Ogun State, in 1937 where completed his primary education.
Due to his brilliance, Ajayi was engaged by the school as a teacher.
