A former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (operations) Tunde Lemo has been appointed as the Chairman of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency.
His appointment was approved on Friday, October 6, by President Muhammadu Buhari who also okayed the appointment of new members of the FERMA Board – all subject to Senate approval.
Those joining him on the board are Nurudeen Rafindadi; Buba Abdullahi; Babagana Aji; Shehu Abdullahi and Loretta Aniagolu; Mujaidu Dako; Vincent Kolawole; Chukwunwike Uzo; Olubunmi Siyanbola; Abdulrazak Ma’aji; Saidu Abdulkadir and Peter Osawe.
Below are some details about the former deputy governor of Nigeria’s apex bank;
1.) Tunde Lemo who hails from Ogun State was born 1960.
2.) He attended the University of Nigeria Nsukka, where he graduated with First Class Honours in Accounting in 1984.
3.) The former CBN deputy governor became a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, in 1997.
4.) Prior to his appointment as a deputy governor in 2003, Lemo was the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Wema Bank Nigeria Plc between 2000 and 2003.

5.) He played a key role in the consolidation of the banking sector that resulted in 24 stronger and well capitalised banks with combined equity of over N1.6 trillion from the 89 deposit money banks that were in operation then, as well as the formulation and implementation of the Microfinance Policy and Supervisory Framework both under the supervision of the governor.
6.) Mr. Lemo championed the restructuring of Abuja Security and Commodities Exchange and Nigeria Export Import Bank (NEXIM), and served as the Chairman of both institutions. As Vice Chairman, Technical Committee for the establishment of Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), Lemo participated actively in the establishment of the Pan-African investment institution.
