A Lagos State Magistrate Court has tried a 31-year-old Adenike Okuneye for allegedly parading herself as a staff of Fidelity Bank, months after she had been sacked.
It was gathered that despite being sack, she still posed as a staff for the purpose of collecting money from customers of the bank with the pretext of saving it for them in the bank.
She allegedly ended up converting it to her personal use.

Prosecuting officer, Cyriacus Osuji told the court that Adenike would go about wearing the bank’s T-Shirt during work hours to ask unsuspecting bank customers to deposit N50, 000 which she claimed the bank would help them save. The unsuspecting bank customers would then oblige her because they had known her to be working in the bank. Adenike would afterwards disappear with their money.
The prosecuting officer said that nemesis caught up with her when one of the aggrieved customers of the bank who knew that the accused was no longer with the Fidelity Bank reported her to the bank leading to her arrest.
Osuji said that the offence the accused committed was punishable under sections 72, 314 (A) and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
When she was arraigned, Adenike pleaded not guilty to the alleged crime. The magistrate, S.K Matepo, granted her bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till October 9th, 2017 for mention.
